GalleriE CHIZ
March show: CHEW ON THIS! A Germination Installation
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Pittsburgh, PA. Graduate of Penn State University, Barry has created pop up studios -- Suite 106 in Florida, West Eleven in Los Angeles, and, most recently SixTHreeFouR in Pittsburgh, PA. The spaces create interactive environments that include paintings, sculptures, music, movement and installation. These are stories to connect myths of our inner worlds to the consistent symbolism, held and expressed, in the everyday words and movements of our seemingly disconnected modern outer world. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to be represented by Gallerie Chiz for her first solo exhibition in Pittsburgh, PA. Barry has shown internationally, including the 2015 International Artists In Paris Fair held at the Carrousel du Louvre inside the Louvre Museum. Her work is held in private and corporate collections. www.kimbarrystudio.com
About the gallery
GALLERIE CHIZ was established in 1995 by artist/owner/director Ellen Chisdes Neuberg, representing international, national, regional, and local artists. For the twenty years that CHIZ has existed, Chisdes Neuberg still selects an eclectic collection of quality insider and outsider art, encompassing a wide range of styles, mediums, etc. One mission of the gallery is to bring art to the public, especially art that is not widely seen in Pittsburgh and environs. Her hope is that artists are enabled to earn a living by selling their art and she tries to make this possible. CHIZ also has, over the years, supported many local musicians who perform regularly at their openings, as well as appealing to a wide variety of jewelry collectors, lovers of music and all other appreciators of the arts. If it’s different and good, you can probably find it at CHIZ.
Their March show will be an exciting new, fun exhibition by Kim Barry, entitled “CHEW ON THIS! A Germination Installation” that explores themes of substance in the 21st century. They hope that humor and understanding will meld for a very enjoyable, sensory experience for all to chew on and participate in.
